This is the home of the thousand good books that, according to John Senior in his appendix to “The Death of Christian Culture,” everyone who speaks English should have read. The site is a simple, hyperlinked library of all of these books that are in the public domain, hosted by Good Soil Media on ISSUU

Our partner site is Good Soil Magazine, hosted on Substack. The magazine features stories, poems, and songs excerpted from the thousand good books, appropriate to the season.

Whether you homeschool, wish to supplement your child or grandchild’s education with classical content, or simply enjoy reading the books yourself, these are the books that have stood the test of time and are regarded as classics of children’s literature. Some of the books are more geared toward boys or girls, but both will enjoy most.
We will be adding titles until the entire canon is available. All of the titles in each category are now available if they are in the public domain. Check back frequently for new content as the missing titles become available.
